A Huge Congratulations to Gabby Barrett! She won Breakthrough Video of the Year at the 2020 CMT Music Awards for her official music video “I Hope.”
Taylor Swift, who has six CMT Music Awards herself, joined the virtual telecast to present Gabby Barrett with the Breakthrough Video of the Year award for “I Hope.”
“That’s amazing! Oh my gosh. Okay, I don’t even know what to say because I didn’t really think that I was going to win. But first, oh my gosh, my fake trophy in my hand right here, I would like to thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, because I wouldn’t be able to be doing what I love every single day without Him. So thank you, Lord,” Barrett said in her remote acceptance speech.
“Secondly, all the fans that voted, thank you so much. That’s something that I really loved about country music coming into it was how loyal the fanbases are and how they just incredibly love the people that they love, so thank you guys so much. I would like to thank my husband, my family back in Pittsburgh, my entire team … I’m so new to this, this is my first time receiving a television award, so thank you so much CMT.”

Gabby Barrett Brings Top 10 Hit ‘I Hope’ To 2020 CMT Music Awards
Gabby Barrett has enjoyed one of the biggest breakout years of any artist in country music, and at the 2020 CMT Music Awards on Wednesday night (Oct. 21), the singer-songwriter treated her performance of her smash “I Hope” like a well-deserved victory lap.
Rocking a sequined pant suit and hexagonal earrings, Barrett commanded the stage, sneering through the iciest lines of her hit single and showcasing the voice that the country world has quickly embraced. Strobe lights flashed, smoke billowed from onstage machines, and the performance fittingly concluded with an explosion of fireworks behind Barrett and her band.
“I Hope” has topped the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts, and recently entered the top 10 of the Hot 100 chart, with its remix featuring Charlie Puth peaking at No. 8 thus far. The single comes from Barrett’s debut studio album, Goldmine, which was released in June.
