Gabby Barrett Unveils Heartwarming Ballad Penned With Miranda Lambert

Gabby Barrett unveiled a dreamy ballad that she wrote with powerhouse singer-songwriters Miranda Lambert and Hillary Lindsey, “You’re My Texas.” It’s the latest track to make its debut from Barrett’s highly-anticipated sophomore album, Chapter & Verse.

Barrett surprised her fans when she posted a snippet of the instrumental introduction to the song on Instagram, and revealed in her caption on Thursday evening (January 4) that “You’re My Texas” would release at midnight. Barrett sings in the heartfelt song:

“You’re my home away from home/ You’re blue bonnets growin’ wild/ Boy, no matter where I roam/ You’re my Nacogdoches sky/ Where I hang my hat when I get restless/ You’re my Texas”
Barrett’s soon-to-release Chapter & Verse includes some of “her most autobiographical work to date,” per the Pennsylvania-born artist’s record label. So far, Barrett has debuted “Glory Days,” cherishing heartwarming moments with her husband and children, and “Growin’ Up Raising You,” about her life as a young mother, among other tracks. Chapter & Verse is set due on February 2. The album follows Barrett’s debut project, Golden, which released in 2020 with a deluxe edition following in 2021. That era included smash-hits “I Hope” (including a version featuring Charlie Puth), “Footprints On The Moon,” “The Good Ones,” the George Strait nod in “Pick Me Up,” the wedding version of “The Good Ones” and other tracks.

Barrett and her husband, Texas-born artist Cade Foehner, are expecting Baby No. 3 this year. The American Idol alums tied the knot in 2019. They welcomed firstborn child, daughter Baylah May, on January 18, 2021, followed by son Augustine Boone on October 27, 2022. Baby No. 3, a girl, is due next month, Barrett previously confirmed.

“You’re My Texas” Lyrics

(Intro)
Huh-huh-huh
Huh-huh-huh

(Verse 1)
I can get lost on a merry-go-round
Spinnin’ in circles, baby
It’s hard to get my two bare feet on the ground
When the world gets heavy

(Pre-Chorus)
I know where to run to
When the day is done, it’s you

(Chorus)
You’re my home away from home
You’re bluebonnets growing wild
Boy, no matter where I roam
You’re my Nacogdoches sky
Where I hang my hat when I get restless
You’re my Texas

(Post-Chorus)
Huh-huh-huh

(Verse 2)
Steady as a sunset, strong as a pine
Sunday church bells ringing
Sweet as the honey, silver-green on the vine
Little bit of everything I’m needing

(Pre-Chorus)
I know where to run to
When the day is done, it’s you, you, you

(Chorus)
You’re my home away from home
You’re bluebonnets growing wild
Boy, no matter where I roam
You’re my Nacogdoches sky
Where I hang my hat when I get restless
You’re my Texas

(Bridge)
And I could chase this dream of mine all around the world
But as long as I’m your girl

(Chorus)
You’re my home away from home
You’re bluebonnets growing wild
Boy, no matter where I roam
You’re my Nacogdoches sky
Where I hang my hat when I get restless
Where I hang my hat when I get restless
You’re my Texas

(Post-Chorus)
Huh-huh-huh
Huh-huh-huh
