Gabby Barrett Releases Inspirational New Song, ‘Footprints on the Moon’

Just days before the release of her much-anticipated debut album, Goldmine, Gabby Barrett is sharing another album track with fans.

Released on Friday (June 12), “Footprints on the Moon” is an inspiring anthem that begs listeners to question their limitations to ultimately benefit their hopes and dreams. The vocal powerhouse co-wrote the tune alongside Zach Kale and Jon Nite, who happen to be the same collaborators on her massive hit, “I Hope.”

“I wanted to have a song on the album that was an encouraging song, just something that I would’ve liked to have heard when I was in High School or whatever the case was. It’s just an encouraging song for people to go for their dreams and really reach for the sky because the sky’s the limit. Especially if there’s footprints on the moon, literally, if somebody could walk on the moon which we never thought that would happen, you are able to work hard and achieve some great things here on Earth,” Barrett explained about the song to Music Mayhem in a recent interview. “So that is just an encouraging song that I wish [that] I had in high school when I was going through harder times, just really grinding it out and nobody really believed in me so I just hope it’s an encouraging song that people will gravitate towards.”

The release of the song comes just days after Barrett’s newest single, “The Good Ones,” was the most-added song at country radio.

“Wow! This is crazy to me,” Barrett shared at the time. “I am so grateful for this!! Thank you country radio for believing in ‘The Good Ones’ already – it is a gift to hear my songs spinning on radio. I grew up listening to it, dreaming of moments like this with my own music, so I pinch myself every time. I can’t wait for you to hear the full record soon; I feel so blessed by your support! THANK YOU!”

Barrett’s upcoming album includes a total of 13 tracks, 12 of which were co-written by Barrett.

“Songwriting is definitely important to me. I like that the songs are genuine to what’s going on in my life, rather than cutting somebody else’s songs or story,” Barrett recently told Country Now. “I think the songs that are the most genuine to you are the ones that end up lasting the longest.”

“Footprints On The Moon” Lyrics

(Verse 1)
It’s Everest, I know
It’s impossible, you’re too young or too old
That’s what they tell you, hmm
So that’s what you tell you too
So the light, it fades
When you figure out the rules, they change
When you touch it in your hands, it’s sand
Slipping through, but the truth is

(Chorus)
Everybody says that you can’t ‘til you do
Standing there, staring at the mirror in the room
Tell yourself “One more day, one more day, one more shot” (Hang on)
Voices in the night, in your head
Yeah, they’ll beg you to quit
And they’ll tell you that it’s hard, ‘cause it is
But you can do anything, anything you want to
There’s footprints on the moon (Hey, ayy)

(Verse 2)
Your knees, they’ll shake
You’re gon’ wanna stay home, don’t stay
The more your heart wants it, hmm
The harder it’ll break, yeah

(Chorus)
Everybody says that you can’t ‘til you do
Standing there, staring at the mirror in the room
Tell yourself “One more day, one more day, one more shot” (Hang on)
Voices in the night, in your head
Yeah, they’ll beg you to quit
And they’ll tell you that it’s hard, ‘cause it is
But you can do anything, anything you want to
There’s footprints on the moon (Hey, ayy)
There’s footprints on the moon (Hey, ayy)

(Bridge)
Some days, you gonna win
Some days, you gonna be this close
Some days, you wanna give up
But hang on

(Chorus)
Everybody says that you can’t ‘til you do
Standing there, staring at the mirror in the room
Tell yourself “One more day, one more day, one more shot”
Voices in the night, in your head
Yeah, they’ll beg you to quit
And they’ll tell you that it’s hard, ‘cause it is
But you can do anything, anything you want to
There’s footprints on the moon (Hey, ayy)
